Type Location(s): HT:LE
Type notes: Holotype identified in Stevenson & Sabato , Taxon 35: 134-143(1986): "In the protologue, Regel mentions that he was basing this description on material collected in Colombia by Wallis. There are two specimens in LE with this information on their labels. One has a label written in ink and the other in a different hand, in pencil. The label written in ink is definitely in Regel's handwriting and because it is the only one is considered by us to be the holotype."

This name is considered a synonym of Zamia chigua Seem.
