Type notes: In his description of <em>Zamia pungens</em>, Linnaeus filius cited in synonymy the pre-Linnean name 'Palma fobolifera, aegyptia, foliis levioribus, fructa nigro' published in Till. Pis. 129, Tab. 45. 1723, with <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Catalogus_plantarum_horti_Pisani_auctore/IhG1IfmXzXcC?hl=en&gbpv=1&pg=PA128-IA2&printsec=frontcover" target="_blank">the illustration (Tab. 45)</a> being the only original material cited. As the description and illustration refer to the palm known as <em>Phoenix dactylifera</em> L. the name is therefore considered a synonym of this palm. in Pisano and actually refers to the palm Phoenix dactylifera. See illustration below:
